One ticket gets you a full day of amazing entertainment with 50 events taking place throughout the day – every day!
BIG HOUSE highlights so far include award-winning comedy dance troupe ponydance, Big House Parliament (an alternative citizen’s parliament run by Mindfield and The Sky Cat Laugh’s Naoise Nunn), The Ark’s Ukelele Céilí workshop for children, a film programme presented by the Irish Film Institute and Choice Music Prize winner Julie Feeney in a special event in the Ballroom.
In addition to the fixed programme, each evening will feature a unique performance, with Jerry Fish presenting his Carnivale show on Saturday 3rd and trad legends LAPD (Andy Irvine, Dónal Lunny, Liam O’Flynn and Paddy Glackin) taking to the stage on Monday 5th.
Visitors come along at lunchtime and stay until last light at what is Ireland’s first site-specific arts festival. From ages 1-100 there is something for everyone at BIG HOUSE. Discover rock ‘n roll in the ballroom or tap your toes to trad with a twist. Enjoy tea-time theatrics or dance in the colonnades, Picnic on the lawn as an opera plays out before you. Pause by the silver screen, or bathe in the sounds of a classical quartet by the lake. And later get lost in a forest full of mechanical birds, or speak your mind at the Big House Parliament. Explore the house and your imagination!
This is a festival where you follow your instincts not the schedule and fill your head with a thousand amazing memories. Lounge in the magnificent surroundings of the house and the sprawling parklands as they come alive with hundreds of top-drawer artists from the worlds of music, theatre, visual art, dance and entertainment. The dramatic ballroom, farmyard, gate lodges, stables, ancient woodlands and lush meadows will all be programmed with unexpected art and entertainment.
